THE
WATERFRONT,
REWIRED.

01 / THE CONVERGENCE

Not three modes.
One waterfront.

Pier 6's strategic story is not a speculative passenger interchange. It is the coexistence of an established heliport with NYCEDC's stated ambitions for maritime microfreight and low-emission last-mile distribution.

01 / AVIATION

Air.
Above the grid.

The Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6 is an existing public-use aviation facility. NYCEDC has described plans for eVTOL-supporting infrastructure; future services remain subject to certification, approvals and delivery.

02 / BLUE HIGHWAYS

Water.
Into the city.

NYCEDC’s Blue Highways initiative plans to shift freight from roads to waterways. Its Action Plan identifies a purpose-built microfreight landing at Downtown Skyport, with a Q4 2027 target.

03 / LAST MILE

Land.
Beyond the pier.

Small shipments can transfer from vessels to commercial cargo bikes for onward delivery. FDR Drive and nearby ferry services are geographic context—not evidence of an integrated passenger interchange.

03 / THE NEXT CHAPTER · AN INDEPENDENT PERSPECTIVE

THE NEXT
CHAPTER

Imagine a waterfront where the city’s planned microfreight landing is taking shape alongside infrastructure for electric aviation: freight vessels at the shoreline, cargo bikes completing last-mile deliveries and a new generation of aircraft overhead. This is an independent vision informed by public plans—not a statement that proposed facilities or services are operational.
